Call routing

Call routing is the set of rules that determines where an incoming call or captured enquiry goes. A route might depend on the reason for calling, opening hours, location or responsible team. Routing can result in a transfer, a message or a callback task; those outcomes should not be described as if they were the same.

Why it matters for your business

A clear route prevents a sales enquiry from sitting in a general inbox or a customer complaint being treated as another lead. Every destination needs an owner and a fallback.

A business example

A property business separates viewing requests from existing tenant messages so the right person receives the information first.

Illustrative example.

Your next step

Write one rule for each common call type, including what happens when its usual owner is unavailable.
