Call transfer

A call transfer moves an active telephone conversation to another person or destination. A successful transfer means the receiving side actually joins or accepts the call. Asking a colleague to call back later is a different action. Any transfer feature needs a valid destination, availability rules and a tested failure path.

Why it matters for your business

Transfers are useful when a caller needs a person immediately, but promising a live handover without a working destination creates a worse experience than an honest callback arrangement.

A business example

A receptionist tries the configured service desk. If nobody answers, it explains the fallback and captures a callback request instead of claiming the caller has been connected.

Illustrative example.

Your next step

Test successful, busy and unanswered destinations before offering a live transfer to customers.
