Conversion

A conversion is a defined action that matters to a business, such as a qualified enquiry, confirmed booking or completed purchase. The action must be named before results are counted. A button click, submitted form and paid order are different events, even when they happen within the same customer journey.

Why it matters for your business

Clear definitions keep marketing reports connected to commercial outcomes. Measure the stages separately so the team can see where interest turns into action and where people stop progressing.

A business example

A food website records order starts and completed orders separately, allowing the owner to see whether people are abandoning the process after choosing their meals.

Illustrative example.

Your next step

Choose one primary customer action and confirm that the tracking records its actual completion.
