Mission
A mission is Klarnow's term for a bounded unit of work with a clear outcome, owner and evidence of completion. It should explain what success looks like, what information is required and which decisions are outside scope. A mission is more useful than an open-ended instruction to improve something without defining the finish.
Why it matters for your business
This makes delegation easier to track across people and tools. Work can be reviewed against its intended result instead of being judged only by how much activity took place.
A business example
A mission to fix enquiry handover names the affected route, the responsible owner and the test that must show a request reaching the correct queue.

Write the outcome, owner, acceptance checks, evidence location and next review point on one record.
