Operate

Operate describes the ongoing work of running and improving a system after it has been built. It includes maintaining business information, checking incoming work, handling exceptions and reviewing results. A delivered system still needs ownership; it does not become self-maintaining simply because some of its steps are automated or supported by AI.

Why it matters for your business

Operational discipline protects the value of the original installation. Outdated hours, unassigned follow-up or unchecked failures can undermine a customer journey that worked correctly at launch.

A business example

A business checks unanswered enquiries, corrects changed service information and reviews failed handovers as part of its regular operating routine.

Illustrative example.

Your next step

Assign a system owner and agree the checks, exceptions and review points needed to keep it useful.
