SOP
A standard operating procedure, or SOP, explains how to complete a repeatable task to an agreed standard. It should identify the trigger, required information, responsible role, steps, checks and definition of done. It also needs an exception route, because a real process must explain what to do when the normal steps cannot be completed.
Why it matters for your business
An SOP reduces dependence on verbal handovers and founder memory. It becomes useful when another person can follow it, produce the expected result and know when to stop and ask for help.
A business example
A new team member follows the enquiry handover SOP, records the required fields and assigns the next action without asking the founder to explain the process again.
