Decision rights
Decision rights define who may make a decision or take an action, and when approval is required. They apply to people as well as automated systems. Clear boundaries distinguish collecting information, making a recommendation and committing the business to a price, booking, refund or other obligation. Those activities should not share an assumed permission.
Why it matters for your business
Defined authority makes delegation safer and faster. Team members can act confidently inside their remit and know which exceptions need a founder, manager or specialist.
A business example
A receptionist may capture a refund request, while only the authorised manager can decide whether to approve it.
