API integration
An API integration lets software exchange information or request actions through an interface provided by another system. The connection has to respect authentication, permissions and the receiving system's rules. Having API documentation or credentials is not proof of a working integration; the specific action, response and failure behaviour need to be tested.
Why it matters for your business
Integrations can reduce duplicate entry between customer tools, but their value depends on accurate mapping and ownership. A successful request should be checked against the record or action it was meant to create.
A business example
A tested connection sends a captured enquiry to a CRM and records the returned record identifier so the team can verify where it went.
