Webhook
A webhook is a message one system sends to another when an event occurs. It can tell a workflow that something changed, such as a payment status or booking update. The receiving system still needs to validate the message, handle duplicate deliveries and decide what action is appropriate. Receiving an event is not the same as completing the work.
Why it matters for your business
Webhooks can start timely actions without someone repeatedly checking a dashboard. A dependable design must also cope with retries and temporary failures so one event does not accidentally create several copies of a task.
A business example
A payment event starts an onboarding check. The workflow verifies the relevant record and avoids creating the same onboarding task twice.
