Call summary

A call summary is a concise account of the useful information from a conversation. It should identify the caller's reason, the facts they supplied, anything still uncertain and the agreed next action. It is shorter than a transcript and should not turn a request, estimate or unconfirmed statement into a completed action.

Why it matters for your business

A good summary saves the next person from reconstructing the conversation. Its value comes from helping them respond accurately, rather than producing a polished paragraph with no owner or next step.

A business example

A caller asks for a viewing on Friday. The summary records a requested time and a callback owner; it does not say the viewing is booked.

Illustrative example.

Your next step

Use four fields: reason, confirmed details, missing information and next action.
