Booking request

A booking request expresses a customer's preferred appointment, table or service time. It is not a confirmed booking until availability and the business's acceptance conditions have been checked. Systems should preserve that distinction in the record and in the message the customer receives, especially where a person still needs to approve the request.

Why it matters for your business

Confusing a request with a reservation creates disappointment and avoidable admin. A clear status lets the team capture demand immediately while confirming only what it can deliver.

A business example

A caller asks for a table for six on Saturday. The team receives the request and checks capacity before sending a confirmation.

Illustrative example.

Your next step

Use separate requested and confirmed statuses, and make the confirmation owner explicit.
