Call forwarding

Call forwarding sends an incoming call from one telephone number to another destination. Depending on the provider and phone service, it may apply to all calls or only unanswered and busy calls. It is different from moving ownership of a number to a new provider. Available settings and charges need checking with your provider.

Why it matters for your business

Forwarding may let a business keep the number customers already know while testing a different answering route. The important check is what happens both when that route works and when it is unavailable.

A business example

A restaurant keeps its published number and tests forwarding unanswered calls to a separate receptionist line before changing the live customer experience.

Illustrative example.

Your next step

Confirm your provider's supported forwarding options and charges, then test from another phone.
