Constraint

A constraint is a limiting condition that holds back a process or result. It might be capacity, missing information, slow approvals, poor routing or limited demand. The visible symptom is not always the constraint itself. Finding it requires looking at where work waits and what prevents the next useful step from happening.

Why it matters for your business

Fixing the main constraint can be more valuable than increasing activity elsewhere. More enquiries will not solve a delivery queue that the business already cannot handle reliably.

A business example

A catering company attracts interest but cannot send proposals promptly because all pricing decisions depend on one person.

Illustrative example.

Your next step

Identify the stage with repeated waiting and ask what decision, information or capacity would unblock it.
